High Voltage Friends
Sharper Millinery designs hats and headpieces for any occasion, and we regularly meet lovely people in our business. Every now and again we come across simply fabulous websites and blogsites that are dedicated to helping brides-to-be find the very best suppliers and designers and have the very best time doing it.
Electric Wedding is one of those and we caught up with Emma recently to have a chat about what they do and their passion for all things matrimonial…
Where did it all start for your company?
Electric Wedding began when my friend Charlotte and I each got engaged, and realised that wedding planning became a lot more fun when we shared our stories with each other. We decided to share our journey down the aisle on our blog, in the hope that we would help out or inspire other brides, or even cheer them up when they feel a bit down! We also want to share all the fabulous suppliers we find along the way in our Electric Directory – especially the little ones who are so hard to find.
We’re all about the head, what are you all about?
We are all about the Real Bride’s Story. Once our wedding journeys are complete, we want to feature the diaries of new Electric Brides, so that we always have girls (or boys!) who are sharing their story with others.
Tell us about your favourite parts of your website
Apart from writing our diaries, our favourite part of the site is Ask Lola – where our resident agony aunt tries to solve our bridal dilemmas! A bit like Deidre’s photo casebook, but with less scantily clad women and a tad more bridal! (Editor: We Love Ask Lola too, very refreshing and funny but with proper advice!)
Which famous celebrity would you love to feature?
I would love to feature the wedding diary of Katy Perry and Russell Brand – now that is a wedding I’d love to read about being planned – I loved her light up dress at the Costume Institute Gala.
Think back to an occasion you wore a hat or headpiece, can you describe it and how it made you feel?
I love wearing hats, but my favourite ever hat was my Easter bonnet that I made when I was 4. It had pink ribbons, little chicks and spotted Easter eggs on it. It made me feel like the Easter princess! I won a prize and everything!
If Sharper Millinery could design your perfect headpiece what would it look like?
It would look like a headpiece from the wardrobe of Marie Antoinette. It would incorporate a giant wig at least 2ft tall, with big feathers and plumes and a bit of sparkle thrown in. Preferably in a candy coloured shade of pink, lemon or light green. Oooh yes. That would be fabulous!
